About Me

30 Aug 2010

I was born in Lubero, in the north of the park, in 1958. Unlike a lot of the other Rangers I didn’t join because the park was important to me but because I wanted to work, in fact I knew nothing about conservation really. It’s amazing to think that now it all means so much to me!

My service began in 1996 at Lulimbi. During several levels of training I got better and better at the job. It really takes devotion to do that and the fact that all of us have it, makes all the difference. A Ranger’s life is not an easy one!

In the Central Sector, where I started, we work differently from the way they do in the Southern Sector. The patrols often take two or three days because the poachers operate as far as they can from the patrol posts. Their strategy had forced us to change the way we operate.

The years I have spent in conservation have made me wiser; and I have seen many other men much improved by this life.
